ODW Designated Ready for IBM Technology Solution, Free Developer Workstation Program commences
September 7, 2005

The Open Desktop Workstation has been designated as "Ready For IBM Technology" and will be listed as such in the IBM Global Solutions Directory.

"For Genesi this is a notable event. In the past this award was withheld by IBM, as the ODW is an "end-user" device. We feel that the growing and progressive significance of open source software, the need for a standardized PowerPC development environment and the flexibility provided by the platform's support of multiple operating systems is finally yielding significant and positive attention," stated Raquel Velasco, General Manager, Genesi. "Gerald Carda and Thomas Knäbel, who have designed and produced five versions of the PegasosPPC used to create the Open Desktop Workstation, have worked many years, but it is our feeling that the success story is just about to begin."

Simultaneously, the Free Developer Workstation Program has commenced. Registration is required with a 1.0GHz ODW being offered at $29.95 for 36 months.

Genesi also announced today that it has submitted its petition to join Power.org.
