Genesi´s EFIKA MX53 is a low-cost four-layer board design based around the i.MX53 Cortex A8 (ARM) System-on-Chip from Freescale Semiconductor.  The design includes board firmware and a optimized desktop image.

The specifications are as follows:

  • Dimension 50mm * 100mm
  • Cost optimized four layer design
  • NXP i.MX53 ARM Cortex A8 CPU @ 1GHz
  • Dialog Semiconductor DA9053 PMIC
  • 16 GB NAND
  • 1 GB RAM ( DDR3 SDRAM @ 800MHz )
  • ARM 32-bit Cortex M3 CPU to control miscellaneous I/O functions
  • Up to 128 key keybord support using 24 pin 1mm pitch FPC connector
  • Cirrus Logic CS42L52 24-bit low-power stereo audio codec
  • Class D speaker amplifier
  • Sagrad W-LAN SG901-1098 IEEE 802.11 B/G/N
  • USB 2.0 connectors
  • LVDS LCD connector and YUV CMOS sensor
  • PS/2 touch interface
  • SD Card connector
  • Mini jack 3.5mm stereo audio connector
  • Battery connector
  • Standard PSU connector 12 volt DC

With its LVDS display output the Efika MX53 creates a solid foundation for consumer and embedded products, including netbooks, tablets, digital signage and energy monitoring solutions. When powered with a 4000mA battery while playing HD content at 1080p a battery life of more than ten hours can be achieved. The design is BOM and production cost optimized.
